The first organizational meeting of the car club was held at the
North West Leisure Centre in March of 1984. Organized by Jim Zinkhan
(the first club President) through an ad in the Leader-Post, The Collectors
Car Club of Saskatchewan started with 22 charter members.
On September 12, 1989 the car club incorporated under The Saskatchewan
Non-Profit Corporations Act with the official name of COLLECTORS CAR CLUB OF
SASKATCHEWAN INC.
Over the years the car club held monthly meetings at various locations
throughout the City of Regina. These have included the North West Leisure
Centre, SaskTel Training Centre, Elsie Mironuck School, Sacred Heart Church,
The Co-operators Life Insurance Corporate Office, Canadian Tire North, as well
as members homes.
To keep in touch with the membership and local car clubs regarding current
events within the local car collector hobby, a newsletter was produced as a paper
copied edition called COLLECTORS CAR CLUB NEWSLETTER to one in later years
called The Headliner. Today all information is published through the car club web-site
at www.collectorscarclub.com
The goal of the car club during the early years was to continue to promote
interest in the old car hobby throughout the Province of Saskatchewan while today
the car club is more dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of our classics.
As our motto reads, "If we're not having fun, why are we doing it?" continues to this
day.
